  05/04/2004 - Disneyland

Kids’ Disneyland carrot of encouragement for 6-months away was devoured. They loved it, and we did too. Saw Mickey [photo], Minnie, Pluto and Goofy, Pooh Bear, Eeyore and Tigger [photo], and Toy Story’s Woody, Jesse and Buzz Lightyear [photo]. Met the characters, got their autograph and took a photo. It was great! Opted for Disneyland Park for Mickey and friends instead of Disney’s California Adventure Park and its rollercoasters. Got there for opening at 8 am and left 12 hours later with a Grand Parade finale. Could’ve stayed later, close was midnight, but all too worn out. Ben was asleep before we’d exited the car park. Tired but happy! Timing for visit was bad, Easter recess for schools. Got busy in afternoon. Very! Long queues for rides, over 2 hours for some. Overheard 65,000 people through gates today. Didn’t go on everything but made the most. Viewed Mickey’s house and kissed Minnie Mouse, had a Toontown cab ride and a roll on the coaster, floated round a small world and bobsledded the Matterhorn. Ben and Leala drove us round Autopia racetrack accident-free and we all became smaller watching 3-D interactive film "Honey, I shrunk the Audience". Joined a war of the stars in a Star Wars simulator, and saw the future in Tomorrowland. Met characters in Critter Country and found fairytale in Fantasyland, adventures in Adventureland and paddlesteamed frontiers in Frontierland. Want to go back. We’ll have to see.
