Arrived Singapore on overnight train from Kuala Lumpur. Could only get upper berths which don't have so much room as lower. Managed a reasonable night's sleep even with Ben alongside. The costs are another step up from Malaysia (bring back Thailand!) but we managed to find a cheap hair cut. Found a SGD10/10min's quick-cut salon in one of the very many (even more than KL!?) shopping malls. Jill wishes she hadn't. (So much for 'just a trim'!!!) In a state of shock and distress 24hrs on [photo]. Ben has now learnt to swim unaided. We knew it wouldn't be long. He's been practising every pool we've had. Also looks the part in his new full-body swimsuit [photo]. Managed to get my computer fixed here too. After unsuccessful wander round the Funnan IT Mall found an advert in the classified's in the free paper. Sorted within an hour for GBP100 (about the same quoted in Bangkok). Whilst here had to go to Raffles Hotel [photo]. Walked into hotel lobby but was soon told 'no sandals allowed, sir'. Had to walk round the side, in the courtyard and shopping arcade. Had a modern-day tiffin of iced coffee in the Raffles cafe.
