Left Thailand and are in Malaysia on Langkawi island. New currency, new standards, new exchange rate to adjust to. Seems more expensive than Thailand but this is Malaysia’s premiere resort island and we’re in a very touristy area. Didn’t go well when we arrived. I’d chosen a guesthouse off the Internet but it wasn’t quite as shown. Jill was shocked. Went to another and although beautiful setting on the beach, it was one ‘dodgy’ room too far for Jill. Me and my budget!!? We booked into a sumptuous bungalow resort next door for 3 nights. Jill has now recovered. Should make interesting viewing. Jill was not happy at all. However, we’re now all enjoying the luxury: clean white sheets, hot water, cable TV, air-con, full buffet eat-as-much-as-you-can breakfast, pool. Could get used to this. (Not sure whether the budget would.) Still having fun.
